Paris Revisited Aug. 23-28, 2018
Ten years ago we visited beautiful, romantic Paris. It seemed like the perfect time to revisit before our Baltic Cruise that was sailing out of Amsterdam. We stayed at the Hotel Henry IV Rive Gauche in the Latin Quarter. Our 5th floor room overlooked the St. Severin Church and at night you could see the top of the lit Eiffel Tower. Everything was within walking distance and the Hop-on-Hop-off bus was right outside the door across the street by the church. We used the combination Batobus/HOHO for our transportation. The first day we visited the Musee D'Orsay, the Orangerie museum, and found our favorite little alley on rue Huchette for drinks, music and dinner. The next day we took the bus over to the Montparnasse Tower where we took the elevator to the 56 floor that opened out onto a rooftop observation area. The views of the city were specatular from here. We visited another wing of Le Louvre museum (you can only visit one wing at a time as it is huge! ) We ended our time in Paris with a lunch at the Jules Verne Restaurant on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. Our table faced the Trocodero but you could walk around to take in all of the views. The food and drinks were gourmet in every way. It took us about 3 hours to complete our lunch. The next day we had a late check out before heading over to Gare Nord where we caught a 3 hour train ride to Amsterdam. We are so happy that we decided to return to Paris...there is nothing quite like it.
