Art Projects 2014

These are examples of some of the art projects I have been doing this year. I am painting silk scarves, wine bottle bags, cosmetic cases, hand painted silk scarf pillow covers and tissue holders. I am also painting on YUPO paper to make colorful cards and painting tiles with alcohol inks. I am mounting these tiles on boxes, tissue holders, easels, and other forms for display.

  • This is a 30" x 30" square hand painted silk scarf that I used as a decorative pillow cover. You can use it this way or easily untie it and use it as a scarf.

  • This is a hand painted wine bag. I used one of my YUPO paintings and mounted it on card stock for the note. The vivid colors of the hand painted silk and the YUPO paintings are a perfect match.

  • I spent one day making my own ink/paint stamps. The base is foam core and the shapes are made out of sticky back foam. They work beautifully with the Jacquard Lumiere Paints.

  • This is a sample piece of black silk. I used a make up sponge to dab on the gold dots and then used one of my home made foam stamps for the leaves. The Lumiere paints work very well for this black silk. The pattern shows on both sides.

  • This is a hand painted cosmetic bag. I used paints on a Gelliplate, pressed with large bubble wrap to print the background. Then I used a make up sponge to paint the purple and pink dots. A paint brush and some gold Lumiere paint for the accent decoration. Both sides are painted although the pattern looks different.

  • This scarf was ironed onto freezer paper. Then I used a paint brush in water to wet the scarf. I used Dye-Na-Flow paints in 4 colors then sprinkled the entire scarf with silk salt. The salt is what created these beautiful patterns.
