2016-2017 Illucinations Collection-Alcohol Ink Painted Ornaments

These, once clear, glass ornaments, were painted using alcohol inks. The first group of ornaments were disc shaped. I filled each one with a mix of white acrylic paint and water, then let them dry before painting. I was even able to use plastic bags on a couple of them to make an interesting pattern. The other ornaments were round or egg shaped. The inks were dropped or dripped onto/ into the glass ornaments and maneuvered by turning the ornaments while blowing into them. Sometimes I used canned air to move the inks. The hard lines were created by letting the inks dry and then dripping more inks on top of the dry ink. The design on some of the ornaments was enhanced by using glitter. This was done by putting a little clear floor wax into the ornament, and turning it until it was completely coated. Then I poured out the floor wax and poured glitter inside and shook until the inside was completely coated. They were turned upside down on bamboo sticks that were stuck into Styrofoam until completely dry. I then hand painted the ornament tops with alcohol ink with a very thin brush.
